Updated Sanction Notification

The Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research EAER has amended Annex 7 to the Ordinance of 11. November 2015 on measures against the Islamic Republic of Iran (RS 946.231.143.6).

On the 24th In May 2022, the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research EAER amended the list of persons, companies and organizations sanctioned in this context. The WBF has adapted the sanction database SESAM (SECO Sanctions Management), which is decisive for Switzerland, and published the adaptation on its website. The change will take effect on the 25th. May 2022 at 6 p.m.


Financial intermediaries are required under the provisions of the regulation to implement the prohibitions, block the assets of the sanctioned persons and report the business relationships concerned to SECO. The notification to SECO does not release a financial intermediary from additional clarifications in the event of suspicion in accordance with Art. 6 AMLA and if he cannot clear them out, immediately at the reporting office for money laundering in accordance with Art. 9 AMLA to report.

From 2009 onwards, he has consistently and continuously prohibited all non-governmental gatherings, therefore denying a constitutional right to protest and leading to many arrests of peaceful demonstrators in contravention of the right to freedom of assembly. c) In 2009, he also denied the opposition a permit for a ceremony to mourn people killed in protests over the Presidential elections. There is also at least one reported case of ill treatment and the death of a detainee, Mohsen Beikvand, under Akharian's wardenship. Beikvand died in Sep 2010. Therefore, he has contributed to a high number of executions. He has also permitted corporal punishment sentences such as amputations and the dripping of acid into the eyes of the convicted. Since Sadeq Larijani took office, arbitrary arrests of political prisoners, human rights defenders and minorities have increased markedly. Sadeq Larijani also bears responsibility for systemic failures in the Iranian judicial process with respect to the right to a fair trial.
