Updated Sanction Notification
The Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research EAER has amended the ordinance of 4. March 2022 on measures related to the situation in Ukraine (RS 946.231.176.72).
On the 15th In March 2022, the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research EAER amended Annex 8 to the Regulation. The EAER has therefore adapted the sanction database SESAM (SECO Sanctions Management), which is decisive for Switzerland, and published the adaptation on its website. The change will take effect on the 16th. March 2022 at 12 noon.
Financial intermediaries are invited to implement the prohibitions immediately, block the corresponding assets and not to open new business relationships in accordance with the provisions of the regulation and to report such business relationships to SECO. The notification to SECO does not release a financial intermediary from additional clarifications in the event of suspicion in accordance with Art. 6 AMLA and if he cannot clear it out, to immediately report to the Reporting Office for Money Laundering in accordance with Art. 9 of the Money Laundering Act.
This set of updates is only 61 pages – it includes new and updated individual and entity listings. There are titans of industry in there (I see senior management of Yandex and EuroChem Group, among others), relatives (I noticed Igor Sechin’s former wife), members of the Federation Council, and propagandists (e.g. the CEO of Channel One Russia) – and I didn’t look at all the new listings…
