I’m confused….why egg on face?
Not my face… OFAC’s. You issue a designation and then have to correct it the same day? And look what they screwed up – which terror group the guy was associated with! I’d be pretty embarrassed if I had done that…

“Egg on face” is an idiom for “embarrassed”. I guess OFSI’s waves of “corrections” they’ve had to make because they didn’t keep up with EU sanctions changes are more embarrassing, given how long they were allowed to fester. But when was the last time OFAC made a correction to a listing, rather than an update based on new information? When you have to change a listing the same day, it’s a clear mistake. And it’s not like it was a misspelling – that I could buy. But they associated the listing with the wrong terrorist listing. That’s a big oops… I’d be pretty embarrassed if I were them…
