Lloyd’s Register removes class from 10 sanctioned Venezuelan ships

According to Lloyd’s List, Lloyd’s Register had previously “classed” 10 vessels subject to sanctions. Of these, five are owned by Petroleos de Venezuela, SA (PdVSA), the Venezuelan national oil company.

The terminology “class” appears to refer to the issuance of a classification certificate, which is required for (according to Wikipedia) the issuance of marine insurance and for vessel registration. I’m not a vessel guy, so I will have to check…
