Typosquatting is a form of cybersquatting / domainsquatting that covers a technique where a domain name very close to another is acquired with “evil intentions” . It can e.g. be attempts at phishing, where mail distributing virus / malware gives the impression of coming from the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority.
It is therefore recommended to use the available technical safety measures that can do, among other things. mail communication more secure and thus reduce the risk of a mail user being exposed to phishing.
The Cyber Security Center recommends that authorities and businesses implement three technologies (SPF, DKIM, and DMARC) that can help identify domains used for phishing, thus protecting both the recipient’s security and the sender’s credibility.
