July 12, 2017: Sudan’s still got OFAC sanctions

Last week, the Trump Administration issued an Executive Order extending the review period for the Sudan sanctions program until October 12th. The Obama Administration had issued a General License that was due to expire that basically negated the sanctions. Upon review of the Government of Sudan’s continued acceptable behavior, a report was due to be submitted to the President – which might drive the actual termination of the sanctions. This E.O. extends the deadline for that first report until October. And they published a question about it on their Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page.
