Australia asks for comments on DPRK sanctions

Public consultation on expanding Australia’s autonomous sanctions on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea: submissions invited by Friday 17 March 2017

The Australian Government is seeking public comment on the exposure drafts of proposed amendments to the Autonomous Sanctions Regulations 2011 and Autonomous Sanctions (Sanctioned Vessels – Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) Designation 2015.

The proposed amendments would give effect to expanded sanctions in relation to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea announced by the Foreign Minister, the Hon Julie Bishop MP, on 2 December 2016.

We have now published on the DFAT website exposure drafts of the Autonomous Sanctions Amendment (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) Regulations 2017 and the Autonomous Sanctions (Sanctioned Vessels – Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) Amendment Designation 2017.

Submissions should be made by close of business on Friday 17 March 2017.

This consultation may be relevant to you if you are engaged in commercial activities involving the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
